I am so glad things are finally slowing down for us. Keith has had a very full schedule since Thanksgiving, leaving me with too many long days home alone with the kids. He’s off until the 28th now and we’ve enjoyed more family time. I even got some time with just Koen yesterday that left me feeling better about life. By the end of a day alone with the kids I am having a very hard time not blowing up at the kids when they’re whiny….. I’m out of patience by then, and it’s been nice to have enough patience the last few days.
Koen is really beginning to grasp the Christmas story and even why Jesus’ birth is so important. We’ve all enjoyed going through our Advent book almost nightly, and Koen can quote many of the verses to us already. Li Li just gets excited every time she sees a picture of Jesus, or gets to play with our nativity. She smiles and excitedly says “Djee-djuh!” It’s almost like she’s understanding that He is the reason for all our festivities.
The kids have been helping me bake and taste test many yummy treats, Koen even helped wrap a little. They’ve made Christmas cards for their friends and decorated ginger bread houses with our neighbors.
