Well, although things have been moving along quickly, it looks like we won’t have Min Hui in our arms by his first birthday. I know in the whole scheme of things this isn’t a huge deal, and we are blessed to be getting him so young, but still my heart is heavy about it. I know only a few friends know what this feels like. Imagine sending your baby to someone you don’t know for months and months, and not know when exactly you’re going to pick him back up, or even know who is taking care of him, or how well he is being cared for. You don’t know if he is sick or hungry or cold or lonely. You don’t know if someone is responding to his cries and picking him up and holding him….. Even though we haven’t met Min Hui yet, he is ours and we aren’t whole until we are together.
We received our email from the National Visa Center on Tuesday and our Article 5 was submitted in China today. I don’t really know what all that means, except that we are really only down to 3 steps. We need our Article 5 pick up (about two weeks from now), then Travel Approval (another 2-4 weeks). Once we get Travel Approval, we need a Consulate Appointment scheduled in Guangzhou that will determine when our return tickets are. At that point we purchase plane tickets, prepare like crazy, and go!
This is the busiest swim team week of the year and I’m barely holding it together. In a way I’m thankful for the distraction. Once I get through Sunday, it will slow down a bit and I can have some summer.
